I am not a morning person. I usually don’t have energy to get moving until after 8:00 a.m. However, I don’t need lots of energy to spend time with Jesus. There is nothing sweeter than talking with Jesus and listening to Him through prayer and His Word. Even though I’m in bed and still in pajamas, the first hour of my day is dedicated to worshiping Jesus. I come to Jesus, and He comes to me.
In our busy society, it is counter-cultural to live at a sane pace. The more we do, the busier we are, and the faster we race through the day, the more valuable we become. It feels good to be productive, as we climb the ladder of success. Then, we face an obstacle or crisis, and there’s no way to continue business as usual. As we’re forced to slow down, take the opportunity to come to Jesus.
Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world. James 4:8 NLT
It is not my job to judge anyone’s quality of relationship with Jesus. The way you choose to spend time with Jesus is a matter between you and Him. However, I have been called to encourage you to seek more of Jesus than you do currently.
Come to Jesus.
Approach Him with greater honesty.
Allow God’s Word to speak to you.
Seek His wisdom for challenging situations.
Pray for the circumstances that break your heart.
Invite Him to protect you and give you peace.
Come to Jesus.
It’s human nature when encountering obstacles and crises to run the other direction and handle things on your own. But, as a follower of Jesus, He offers you so much more. Don’t be afraid. Jesus loves you. He is your safe space.
Come to Jesus.
You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13
