Easter Every Day

I love the glorious Easter season. There is such joy in celebrating the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, worshiping Him for His supreme sacrifice. He paid for the penalty of sin by dying on the cross. I marvel at the miracle of new life. Christ defeated the Enemy and conquered death when He rose from the grave on the third day.

Around the world the Church proclaims, “Hallelujah! Christ is risen!”

“He is risen indeed!”

It’s effortless to join the multitudes in declaring praise to our God on this pinnacle holiday. It’s easy to embrace the truth of who we are in Christ.

  • The power of sin is broken over our lives.
  • We are no longer slaves to sin.
  • We are made new and walk in the freedom from the past.
  • We stand in victory over darkness and evil.
  • Eternal hope springs from our souls.
  • We are royalty, adopted into the Family of God.
  • We are deeply loved by our Heavenly Father.

There is so much more. I’m sure you could add to this starter list.

It feels natural to rejoice as we participate in the splendor of Resurrection Day.

But then, what happens on Monday and the days that follow? Is it life as usual, back to normal?

And, what about the truths that seemed so real on Easter? Are they placed on the back burner until Easter rolls around again?

Here is a challenge for myself, as well as those who read this blog:

If Easter is real, then let’s live like it is. Every day. Sunday through Saturday. January through December.

I don’t have to try harder or be stronger. I embrace the truth of Easter and live by Resurrection power.

The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you (Romans 8:11, NLT).

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead (1 Peter 1:3).

Jesus is alive, and His Spirit lives in me. Come what may, He makes all the difference! Now that’s Easter every single day.

Heavenly Father, thank You for showing Your great love by dying on the cross and rising from the dead. My faith is based on Your Resurrection and the power You provide. I believe that Easter is true. Help me walk by Your Spirit and live in Your Spirit today and every day. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

What’s Your Personal Easter Story?

He is risen.
He is risen indeed.
This proclamation was made around the globe last weekend, as people gathered to worship and celebrate our risen Savior. Holy week, the most significant time on the Christian calendar, zooms in on the last days of Jesus Christ’s ministry, His unjust trial, His crucifixion, His burial, and then—glorious of all days—His resurrection.

We rejoice in the mighty power of God. Satan could not defeat Him. Death could not hold Him down. The Holy Spirit breathed life in Christ’s mortal body, and on the third day He rose from the dead and left His tomb. We marvel at the miracle, and declare our highest praise!

Jesus Christ is worthy of blessing, honor, glory, and power forever and forever!

So, after our joyous celebrations, what then? On Monday, after the special meal is put away, the candy wrappers are discarded, and our special clothes are hung up in the closet, does Easter really make a difference? Is Easter more than an important religious event? How does it impact our lives? What’s your personal Easter story?

I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms…(Ephesians 1:18-20).

Did you catch that?

Christ’s resurrection gives us resurrection!

Jesus Christ didn’t save us and then leave us to our own devices.

We were spiritually dead, but He gave us new life. And He continues to give us new life!

He fills us with the same power that raised Himself from the dead.

This power does more than make a way for us to go to heaven one day (although I really look forward to being with the Lord forever). If we are Christ-followers, this power is in us each and every day. It gives us hope, peace, and purpose. The victory of Christ belongs to us. No matter what circumstances we face, we do not face them as victims. We are victors!

Romans chapter 8 is an inspiring discourse on our life through the Spirit. I encourage you to read it and allow God’s truth to settle into your soul. The last verses declare that we are more than conquerors through Christ. Not just conquerors. MORE than conquerors!

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:38-39).
Make the Easter story your story. The incomparably great power of Christ is yours!

Thank You, Jesus, for Your glorious resurrection! Open the eyes of my heart to know that Your marvelous power is available to me. Your Spirit resides in me, giving me everything I need to live a victorious, thriving life. Remind me to take my focus off situations and place them on You. May I live and lead as more than a conqueror. In Your mighty name. Amen.

You Have What It Takes!

You can do it! Really! What has the Lord has called you to do? What ever it is, you can do it!

This weekend churches all around the globe celebrated the glorious Resurrection of Jesus Christ. We remember the miracle, the mystery, the incredible power that infused life into His lifeless body. The Man who was beaten and tortured for us, who suffered and died on our behalf, rose again. He is risen!

Ponder the awesome move of the Holy Spirit that breathed life into Christ’s body, and restored Him to perfect health. Imagine the force it required to move the massive stone from the tomb. Envision the light shining from the angels who made the announcement to the women.

On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ” Then they remembered his words. Luke 24:1-8

The story doesn’t end here. The amazing life of the Spirit is in us. He is in you and in me.

The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you. Romans 8:11

So, I ask you again. What has the Lord called you to do? He had more than enough power to raise Jesus from the dead. He lives in you and has more than enough power to strengthen you to live for Him and do His will. You have what it takes!

Keep the miracle of the Resurrection and the power of the Holy Spirit in full view, as you follow God’s call. He is risen indeed!
